Members from government and opposition sides hold second round of talks in Islamabad

PTI to present charter of demands in third round of govt talks

Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday sought more time from the government to consult party founder Imran Khan on the final negotiation agenda, ahead of the third meeting scheduled for next week.

National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq expressed satisfaction over talks between the government and opposition parties, saying that the PTI would present its "charter of demands" in next session after meeting its founder Imran Khan. 

"In the last meeting we decided that PTI would present its charter of demands, but the opposition demanded another meeting with [PTI founder] Imran Khan to chalk out the list of demands and the next meeting will be held next week, hopefully," Sadiq said while talking to journalists after the conclusion of the second round of talks.

Earlier, the second round of talks between negotiation committees of the government and the opposition was held in Islamabad today.

The government side was represented by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah, Irfan Siddiqui, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Syed Naveed Qamar, Farooq Sattar, Ijaz-ul-Haq, and Khalid Hussain Magsi.

The opposition committee included Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Salman Akram Raja, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Asad Qaisar, Omar Ayub, and Raja Nasir Abbas.

Briefing the media, after the meeting, Senator Irfan Siddiqui said next round of talks will be held after a week as the opposition side has sought time for consultation and seeking guidance from the PTI founder.

He said talks were held in conducive environment and it is hoped that the PTI will come with its charter of demands in black and white in the next sitting.
