Lahore: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has set the Pakistan cricket team a target of defeating India in the Champions Trophy.
Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the newly constructed Gaddafi Stadium on Friday. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, ministers, cricketers, and fans attended the ceremony in Lahore.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of Gaddafi Stadium, the Prime Minister said that the reconstruction of the stadium had been completed in a magnificent manner.
He has set the national cricket team a target of defeating India in the Champions Trophy.
The Prime Minister stated that our players played top-notch cricket and won the hearts of the entire nation. The nation has high expectations from Babar Azam and Rizwan. ‘You will not only be heroes of the entire nation by winning the Champions Trophy but will also win the hearts of 240 million people by defeating neighboring country India’.
In the speech, the Prime Minister said that Shaheen Afridi is also expected to take wickets like his father-in-law Shahid Afridi.
The Prime Minister also expressed his best wishes for the national team in the Champions Trophy.
It is pertinent to note that the ICC Champions Trophy is starting in Karachi on February 19. The Pakistan-India clash will be held in Dubai on February 23.
