Karachi: The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on February 19 on the occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
The notification states that a public holiday has been declared on February 19 on the occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. All government and semi-government offices will remain closed on February 19.
The 777th Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar will be celebrated with devotion and respect. The annual Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar will begin on February 17.
The arrival of pilgrims to participate in the Urs started several days ago. The pilgrims include men, women, old people, and children, who all visited the shrine in a state of excitement.
Strict security arrangements have been made on the occasion of the Urs, due to which long queues of people are seen to enter the shrine. Every evening, the shrine of Lal Shahbaz is filled with a din to the beat of drums, reminiscent of the dervishes of Maulana Rumi.
