According to Israeli media, the cabinet on Sunday gave final approval to appoint Major General Eyal Zamir as the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, which was the final stage of Eyal Zamir’s appointment.
According to reports, Eyal Zamir has also served as Director General in the Ministry of Defense. He has been appointed as the army chief after the resignation of former Israeli army chief Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, who resigned on October 7, 2023, recognizing the failure to stop the Hamas attack as a military failure.
Israeli media reports that Eyal Zamir will take over as the 24th chief of staff of the Israeli army on March 5 next month.
