IND vs ENG 1st Test: England crush India by 227 runs, tops World Test Championship table
Chennai: After thrashing India in 1st Chennai Test match, England tops the World Test Championship table after the massive 227-run win.

Jack Leach and James Anderson starred for England as a combined bowling effort from the visitors cleaned up the India batting order on Day 5 to register a famous win in Chennai.
With the definite 227-run victory, England took a 1-0 lead in the 4-Test series. Jack Leach got the ball rolling with the wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara. James Anderson then quickly thwarted India's middle order.
India skipper Virat Kohli showed some resistance but went out of partners from the other end. India eventually bundled out for 192 in reply to England's huge 420-run target.
For England, Jack Leach completed his half century of test wickets by picking up 4 wickets while giving 76 runs whereas Anderson grabbed 3 wickets in the fourth innings of the 1st Test match.
The only gain for India today was Ishant Sharma reaching 300 test wickets mark.
India registers its 1st defeat at home since 2017, likewise England marks its 6th consecutive away win with also 6th win in a line in Asia.
