Legal reforms related to crime prevention, effective law enforcement, and restoration of public order will be brought


Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to change the criminal laws in the province.
According to the spokesperson of the provincial home department, a legal reform committee has been formed to change the criminal laws, which will be headed by DIG Kamran Adil, while the committee will submit its recommendations within three months to make the laws modern and effective.
The spokesperson said that the committee will draft amendments to the Criminal Code 1898, the Pakistan Penal Code 1860, and the Shahadat Order 1984, while the committee will also draft a national security law.
According to the Punjab Home Department, legal reforms related to crime prevention, effective law enforcement, and restoration of public order will be brought, while amendments will be proposed in the laws related to the protection of women and children in Punjab, especially.
The reform committee will propose amendments to the laws related to counter-terrorism, cybercrime, cyber security, and inter-provincial coordination. The committee will propose amendments consistent with modern scientific techniques, laws, and social requirements.
