YouTube suggests dangerous videos, claims Mozilla
Open-source web browser, Mozilla Firefox’ RegretsReporter data claimed that video sharing platform, YouTube has been suggesting dangerous videos.

The social media platform, YouTube stated that it has tweaked tools that allows the user to personalize their own feed, giving transparency on a few suggestions.
As per details, search engines have been collecting data for a year and now the Mozilla Foundation has solid information on the content that people are exposed to when the algorithm makes an error.
The extension was set into motion as it took a crowdsourced approach last year.
The trends in the collected data indicate the harm that can be inflicted with YouTube’s current approach.
It had gathered nearly 3,362 reports, beside information from people who installed the extension but did not forward reports,
The foundation concluded 12.2% reported videos which violated YouTube’s own regulations for content. While nearly 200, have been later censored by platform, after gaining more than 160 million views.
Mozilla senior director of advocacy Brandy Guerkink stated, “YouTube needs to admit their algorithm is designed in a way that harms and misinforms people’’.
Later, YouTube released a statement that declares that in 2020, they’ve launched over 30 different changes to reduce recommendations of harmful content.
Meanwhile, Mozilla recommended amendments which include transparency reports to delete the personalization features.
