Ration distribution turns tragic in Karachi as elderly woman dies in stampede
Police officials say that investigations are underway, and legal action will be taken according to the law


Karachi: During a ration distribution in Madina Colony, a stampede broke out, resulting in the death of an elderly woman and several other women being injured.
According to reports, an NGO was distributing ration to the poor and needy. Even before the distribution began, a large crowd, including women and children, gathered. As soon as the gate of the office was opened, a large number of women rushed inside.
Reports state that during the stampede, some women fell to the ground, and 4 to 5 women were injured. Rescue officials said that an elderly woman was trampled as people rushed over her, which led to her death.
As soon as the incident was reported, a heavy police presence arrived at the scene. Police officials stated that the ration was being distributed in a park by the NGO.
Rescue authorities transferred the deceased woman's body for legal formalities and the injured women to the hospital for medical treatment. Police officials said that investigations are underway, and legal action will be taken according to the law.
