ECP reshuffles provincial election commissioners in major move

Islamabad: In a significant move, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reshuffled the provincial election commissioners in Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan. The changes are expected to have a notable impact on the functioning of the electoral bodies at the provincial level.

According to the ECP, Sharifullah, who was serving as the Election Commissioner of Sindh, has been appointed as the new Election Commissioner of Punjab. This reshuffle marks a significant shift in the administration of the province’s electoral affairs.

In another key change, Fareed Afridi, the Election Commissioner of Balochistan, has been assigned the role of Joint Election Commissioner of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This reallocation aims to strengthen the electoral process in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, known for its dynamic political landscape.

Meanwhile, Ijaz Anwar Chohan, the Election Commissioner of Punjab, has been transferred back to Sindh as the new Election Commissioner. This move is part of the ongoing strategy to enhance electoral transparency and efficiency in both provinces.

Furthermore, the Election Commission has appointed Ali Asghar Siyal as the new Election Commissioner of Balochistan, marking a key leadership change in the province’s electoral management.

In addition to these appointments, Aleem Shahab has been appointed as the Additional Director General at the ECP Headquarters, tasked with overseeing crucial administrative functions.
