(Web Desk): Pakistan Railways has announced that train services will resume in Balochistan starting on March 27, 2025, after being suspended following a terrorist attack on the Jaffer Express. Several train routes will be restored, providing much-needed transportation for passengers in the region.
According to the new schedule, Train 40-DN Jaffer Express will run from Peshawar to Quetta starting on March 27. Train 39-UP Jaffer Express will operate from Sibi to Peshawar on the same day. Additionally, Train 39-UP Express will start running from Quetta to Peshawar on March 28, and Train 3-UP from Karachi to Quetta will resume service on March 31.
To accommodate travelers for Eidul Fitr, a special Eid train will depart from Quetta to Peshawar on March 29, 2025, to help manage the increased passenger load during the holiday season.
Pakistan Railways has urged passengers to follow the departure times strictly, and staff have been instructed to make necessary preparations. The Railway Prem Union has praised the decision, with Central President Sheikh Muhammad Anwar calling it a positive development for Balochistan's passengers. He also applauded the Federal Minister for Railways, Hanif Abbasi, for agreeing to operate the Bolan Express daily, meeting long-standing union demands.
Anwar also supported the government's decision to recruit 500 new railway police officers, with 70% of the positions reserved for Balochistan, highlighting the importance of improving safety and protecting the railway infrastructure.
