Lawyer told the court that Waheed had quoted Akhtar Mengal’s words in a post


Islamabad: The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad has granted bail to journalist Waheed Murad, who was arrested in a case under the Cyber Crime Act, in exchange for a bond of Rs50,000.
According to the details, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) presented journalist Waheed in the court of Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah after completing his two-day physical remand. The court ordered the journalist to be sent to jail on judicial remand.
Later, Waheed Murad’s lawyers filed a post-arrest bail application in the court, which was heard by Judge Abbas Shah.
Judge Abbas Shah asked the FIA what material had they recovered.
Lawyer Iman Mazari told the court that Waheed had quoted Akhtar Mengal’s words and posted them, while Hadi Ali Chatha said that the first tweet was Akhtar Mengal’s statement.
The FIA told the court that the content of Akhtar Mengal’s post said that Baloch genocide was being committed.
Later, the court granted post-arrest bail to journalist Waheed Murad in lieu of a surety bond of Rs50,000.
It is pertinent to note that Islamabad-based journalist Waheed Murad was taken into custody from his house early in the morning on March 26 by uniformed officers. Later, the FIA presented him in the District and Sessions Court and requested a 10-day physical remand, however, the court granted his two-day physical remand.
