Sugar mills association urges authorities to take urgent action to protect industry from militant threats

Dera Ismail Khan: The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has reportedly begun demanding money from sugar mills in Dera Ismail Khan, threatening armed attacks on the factories if their demands are not met.
The chairman of the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zone, has written letters to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, and Peshawar Corps Commander Lt Gen Umar Bukhari, warning about the serious issue.
The letters say that militants linked to the TTP have been making threatening calls to the managers of sugar mills in the Ramak area, demanding that they pay ‘taxes’ to the militants instead of the government.
The letters also mention that if the mills do not comply with these demands, the militants have threatened armed attacks on the factories. The situation has caused panic among the workers in the area, raising security concerns.
The sugar mills association has urged the authorities to take urgent action to ensure the safety of the area and protect the industry from these militant threats.
