Islamabad: More than 500,000 people in Pakistan received a coronavirus vaccine in one day – the country’s highest one-day total since the shots began rolling out in February.
The news was shared by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on his official twitter handler.
Umar, who also heads National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) said that for the first time the authorities were able administer half a million doses of vaccination to people.
“ 5 lakh 25 thousand doses were administered yesterday. Highest ever first dose was also achieved yesterday with 3 lakh 90 thousand first doses administered,” he said adding that pace will increase further.

Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of deadly coronavirus across the country. Although the number of daily infections and deaths have decreased in past few days, but the emergence of new Delta variant has raised concerns urging authorities to consider imposing new restrictions again.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 1,590 cases of coronavirus were reported while 21 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 22,618.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 976,867.
As many as 914,605 patients have recovered from the disease with 2,181 critical cases.
