Microsoft shuts down Skype after 22 years
Decision follows rise of Microsoft's new platform, ‘Meeting’

(Web Desk): Microsoft has decided to shut down its popular video meeting platform, Skype, starting today (Monday), after 22 years of service.
According to foreign media reports, the decision comes following the growing popularity of another video meeting platform developed by Microsoft, called "Meeting," on which the company now plans to focus fully.
A senior Microsoft official stated that the "Meeting" team has retained many of the features that were available in Skype.
Through Microsoft Meeting, users can enjoy free services such as individual and group video calls, messaging, and file sharing.
Microsoft also revealed that the number of users for "Meeting" has quadrupled over the past two years.
It is worth noting that Skype was launched in August 2003, and after 22 years, it is being fully shut down on May 5, 2025.
