Karachi: Maritime security has been placed on high alert at Pakistani ports.
According to port sources, an immediate ban has been imposed on all small and large boats from venturing out to sea, and previously issued permits have been revoked.
The sources say the restriction applies to hundreds of fishing boats as well as other small and large vessels. However, the movement of commercial ships will continue as usual.
The decision has been taken to enhance security by limiting maritime activity, the port authorities added.
