Karachi: Former President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain passed away at the age of 81, his son Arsalan Mamnoon announced Wednesday.

The former president had been suffering from cancer. He had been admitted to the Sir Agha Khan Hospital for the last two weeks or so.
Hussian, who was associated with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, remained the president of the country from 2013 to 2018.
He also remained the Governor of Sindh. Hussain was appointed as Governor of Sindh in June 1999 by President Rafiq Tarar.
President Dr Arif Alvi, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Deputy Chairman Senate Mizra Afridi expressed condolences with the bereaved family of Mamoon Hussian.

"We are deeply saddened by the death of former President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain. He was a sincere man who served Pakistan with utmost sincerity. May Allah Almighty grant him a place in the tide of mercy. Amen," Maryam Nawaz said in tweet.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa also expressed heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of former President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain. “May Allah bless his soul & give strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss, Ameen”, the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a tweet while quoted the COAS.

The funeral prayer for the departed soul will be offered today (Thursday).
