Pakistan demands review of nuclear security in India after radioactive material thefts
Pakistan demands review of nuclear security in India

Islamabad: Pakistan has called for a review of the security of nuclear installations and materials in India.
The Foreign Office spokesperson strongly condemned the Indian Defence Minister’s remarks regarding Pakistan’s nuclear assets, calling the statement irresponsible and a reflection of India’s insecurity and failed defense strategy. The spokesperson stated that Pakistan’s conventional defense capabilities are sufficient to deter Indian aggression.
He further stated that nuclear material was recovered from five individuals in the Indian city of Dehradun. Last year, radioactive material worth $100 million—Californium—was also seized in India. Additionally, in 2021, three incidents of radioactive material theft were reported in the country. These incidents point to the existence of a black market for nuclear material in India.
Pakistan has, therefore, demanded that the security of nuclear installations and materials in India be reviewed.
