Indian team cannot play in tournament headed by Pakistani minister, says BCCI


New Delhi: Due to Indian stubbornness, the scheduled Asia Cup is likely not to be held this year.
According to Indian media, India has decided not to play the Asia Cup after tensions with Pakistan.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to withdraw from the Men's Asia Cup and the Women's Emerging Asia Cup.
According to Indian media, the Men's Asia Cup is to be played in September this year, while the Women's Emerging Asia Cup is scheduled in Sri Lanka in June.
In this regard, a BCCI official says that the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi, the Indian team cannot play in a tournament headed by a Pakistani minister.
According to a BCCI official, the ACC has been verbally informed of the withdrawal from the Women's Emerging Asia Cup, and the remaining scheduled events of the ACC have also been put on hold. We are in constant contact with the government in this regard.
It is also reported that the BCCI has not informed the Asian Cricket Council about its withdrawal; there are reports regarding India's preparations to withdraw from the Asia Cup.
According to Indian media, the BCCI has decided to withdraw from the tournament due to the tension between Pakistan and India.
It is pertinent to note that this year's Asia Cup is scheduled in India. India is the defending champion of the Asia Cup.
