Petition against acquittal of Sharif family in money-laundering case rejected
Chief Justice Alia Neelam dismissed petition on grounds of non-compliance

Lahore: Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) Alia Neelam dismissed Shahzad Akbar’s petition filed in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) money laundering case against the Sharif family on the grounds of non-compliance.
The petition against Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, his sons Hamza Shehbaz and Salman Shehbaz, and others in the FIA money laundering case was dismissed. Chief Justice LHC Alia issued a written decision on Shahzad Akbar’s petition.
It is written in the decision that Shahzad Akbar, through his lawyer Haroon Ilyas, had challenged the acquittal of the Sharif family in the money laundering case in the Lahore High Court. But his lawyer did not appear in the case.
The court decision said that, according to the record, a money laundering case was registered against the Sharif family by the FIA in the year 2020 during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, after which the FIA court acquitted Shehbaz, Salman, and others from the case.
Chief Justice Alia Neelam dismissed the petition on the grounds of non-compliance due to the non-appearance of Shahzad Akbar's lawyer. Shahzad had challenged the FIA Court's decision to acquit Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza, and Salman.
