X tests new feature to highlight posts across divides
New experimental feature is intended to help surface new ideas and perspectives

(Web Desk): X (formerly Twitter) has announced the trial of a new experimental feature aimed at highlighting posts that could be appreciated even by users who typically disagree with such content.
The feature will utilize the platform’s existing Community Notes system, which is currently used when users flag content as misleading or false.
According to the company, select users who contribute to Community Notes will see specific posts and be asked to provide ratings and feedback on them.
X stated that this feedback will help develop an open-source algorithm capable of identifying posts that resonate with users holding different viewpoints.
Those included in the feature test will be prompted to indicate whether they like or dislike a post and will have the option to choose responses like "I learned something interesting" or "I don’t agree with it" when giving feedback.
In a post, the company said: “People often feel like the world is becoming more divided, but Community Notes shows that people can agree on important context even when they don't agree on the content.”
According to the post, this new experimental feature is intended to help surface new ideas and perspectives.
It’s worth noting that the Community Notes feature was first introduced in 2022 after Elon Musk acquired the social media platform.
