Terrorist attacks in Lakki Marwat have increased in recent months

(Web Desk): In Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three terrorists from the militant group Fitan al-Khawarij were killed during a gunfight with police, while one police officer was martyred in the exchange of fire.
Despite local peace committee efforts to maintain stability, terrorist attacks in Lakki Marwat have increased in recent months, signaling a clear militant presence in the area.
According to the Lakki Marwat police spokesperson, three militants — including a key local commander known as Chhota Waseem from Gandi Khankhel — were killed in the gun battle. Police officer Shahidullah, also from Gandi Khankhel, was injured during the exchange and later succumbed to his wounds at the district hospital.
The police had received intelligence about militants moving from Gandi toward Kot Kashmir. Acting on directives from Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu Sajid Khan and Lakki Marwat RPO Javed Ishaq, police and local peace committee members pursued the terrorists. A fierce exchange of fire ensued.
One terrorist was killed on the spot, while two others fled into a nearby house and used women and children as human shields. Police engaged the militants for nearly two hours, displaying professional skill to safely rescue the hostages and eliminate both terrorists. Weapons and explosives were also recovered from the site.
One of the slain terrorists was identified as Chhota Waseem, a wanted local commander. Identification of the other two is underway.
