Earlier, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had already warned that Israel should expect severe punishment.

Ayatollah Khamenei, while issuing a message on X, addressed the Iranian nation and said that this morning the Zionist state committed a serious crime on our land with its evil and bloody hands. The enemy exposed its nature more than ever by targeting residential areas.

He had said that Israel's hands are stained with blood; God willing, the strong arms of the Iranian armed forces will not stop without punishing Israel.
