Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to take strong action against encroachments on the banks of the Swat River.
Following the instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a meeting was held in Swat under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, which was attended by provincial ministers, the Chief Minister’s spokesperson, MPAs, and senior government officials.
According to media reports, the meeting sought an explanation from the SP on the absence of police at the accident site and also decided to take action against those responsible.
It is also reported that it has been decided to purchase drones to deliver life jackets and ropes in flood situations. It has been ordered to eliminate encroachments indiscriminately at various places, including the Swat River.
In addition, it has been decided to immediately stop legal and illegal soil extraction activities on the banks of the river and to immediately dismantle hotels built without permission.
The Chief Minister’s spokesperson said that it has been decided to take strong action against encroachments on the banks of the Swat River, under which the district administration has been directed to immediately demolish illegal structures along the river.
According to the spokesperson, it has been decided to register all hotels permanently.
