Islamabad (APP): The 19th death anniversary of renowned poet, writer, and literary figure Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi observed on Thursday with respect and admiration across the country.
He was born on November 20, 1916, in Anga village of Khushab, Qasmi was a prominent voice in Urdu literature.
He wrote over 50 books, including poetry collections, short stories, literary criticism, and essays. His notable works include Jalal-o-Jamal, Shola-i-Gul, Kisht-i-Wafa, and short story anthologies like Chopaal, Sannata, and Kapaas ka Phool.
Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi’s writing often focused on humanism, social justice, and rural life. He is regarded as one of the most influential Urdu short story writers, known for his deep insight and emotional expression.
He was also an active member of the Progressive Writers’ Movement and edited several literary journals, including his long-running publication Funoon.
In recognition of his contributions, he was honored with national awards such as the Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz.
Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi passed away on July 10, 2006, in Lahore at the age of 89.
