Rome: The government of Italy has announced to extend its state of emergency as Covid-19 cases have started rising again due to the spread of highly contagious Indian delta variant.

According to details, the country has reported almost doubled infections in the past week, with the more than 5,000 new cases daily.
In order to curb the spread of virus, the Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi has outlined new rules that will go into effect on August 06 and continue through December 31.
The premier said that a so-called Green Pass will be essential in Italy for availing many services, including entertainment and leisure. The Green Pass certifies that an individual has received at least one vaccine dose, has tested negative in the last 48 hours or has recently recovered from the virus.
“Italy’s economy is doing well and even growing more than other European countries,” he said adding that the Green Pass is essential to keep economic activity open so people can enjoy entertainment with the assurance they won't be next to contagious people.
