Islamabad hosts high-level military talks on regional security, counterterrorism

Islamabad: Pakistan hosted the Regional Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference in Islamabad, with senior military leaders from the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan participating, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir formally welcomed the defence delegations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to promoting peace, stability, and constructive partnership in the region.
The Army Chief emphasised that in an era marked by transnational threats and complex hybrid challenges, military cooperation becomes increasingly vital. He underscored the importance of strategic dialogue and mutual trust to effectively address such evolving security dynamics.
COAS further stated that Pakistan remains committed to working with its partner nations to foster a secure and prosperous regional environment.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the high-level meeting focused on regional security, the evolving strategic landscape in Central and South Asia, joint training initiatives, and counter-terrorism cooperation.
The conference also discussed coordinated humanitarian responses during emergencies, with participants expressing a collective commitment to peace, national sovereignty, shared security threats, terrorism, cyber threats, and violent extremism.
ISPR added that the visiting delegations praised Pakistan’s leadership and hospitality, as well as its role in advancing comprehensive and enduring inter-military diplomacy.
Held under the theme “Stronger Together: A Safer Region through Military Cooperation,” the conference aimed to enhance security collaboration, promote training initiatives, and encourage the exchange of best practices in defence and counter-terrorism.
The multinational gathering marked a significant step toward deepening regional security cooperation, military diplomacy, and strategic dialogue—reflecting Pakistan’s commitment to collective security interests and a cooperative, secure regional framework rooted in solidarity.
