GC University Fine Arts students shine bright at Ustad ALLAH Bux Gallery Alhamra
University students illuminate the path for Pakistan's artistic future

Lahore: The Fine Arts Department of GC University Lahore showcased the exceptional talent of its students at a riveting final thesis exhibition held at Ustad ALLAH Bux Gallery, Alhamra on Mall Road.
The event highlighted the remarkable creativity and technical skill of aspiring artists and designers across various disciplines.
The exhibition featured a diverse array of works from BFA Graphic Design and BFA Painting students, each narrating their unique artistic stories through innovative mediums and concepts.
The Graphic Design students displayed their projects through layout design, digital illustration, photography, and filmmaking, tackling themes such as environmental conservation, health awareness, and social issues. Meanwhile, the Painting students presented compelling oil paintings and miniature art, exploring themes of solitude, memory, and folk narratives.
The event was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of GCU Lahore, Dr. Prof. Omer Chaudhary, accompanied by Dean Dr. Prof. Babar Aziz. Both dignitaries expressed admiration for the students' dedication and praised the faculty’s mentorship that helped the students unlock their creative potential. They lauded the exhibition as a testament to the vibrant artistic talent nurtured within the university.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, Ms. Saman Rai, Commissioner of Punjab Overseas Pakistani’s Commission, graced the event to commend the students’ innovative efforts. She emphasised the importance of supporting art and design on global platforms, encouraging students and faculty alike to aim for international recognition.
Esteemed external jurors, including Dr. Prof Ahmad Bilal from Punjab University, Ms. Ayesha Siddiqa from Lahore College for Women University, Ms. Naghmana from Gulberg College, and Ms. Mina Haroon from the National College of Arts, evaluated the projects. Students passionately explained the research, concept development, and execution behind their works, earning praise for their originality and skill.
The BFA Graphic Design cohort produced striking visual projects that addressed pressing social issues—ranging from environmental conservation to public health. Muaz’s posters on environmental protection, Khawar’s illustrated book on polio vaccination, Huma’s portrayal of the generally ignored daily workers, Kanwal’s depiction of the psychological issues related the regrets and Laiba’s poignant photographs of the Ravi River’s fading fishery painted vivid images of societal concerns. Umer’s thought-provoking short film narrating the life of a struggling clown captivated audiences with its emotional depth.
Guided by mentors Ms. Amna Anwar Khan, Ali Raza Peerzada, and Yasir Javed Doger, the graphic design students demonstrated their mastery across various formats, including layout design, digital illustration, and film.
Meanwhile, the Painting students expressed their innermost emotions through oil canvases, touching on themes like solitude, memories, and cultural tales. Nimrah’s tribute to her mother, painted through images of mothers and children, and Arooj’s nostalgic depiction of childhood memories, showcased heartfelt stories conveyed with technical finesse.
Open to the public until July 24, 2025, the exhibition attracted art enthusiasts and visitors from diverse backgrounds. The event provided a unique opportunity for students to showcase their talents and connect with the community. Visitors expressed admiration for the originality and effort evident in every piece, reaffirming the university’s reputation as a hub of creative excellence.
