Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif expresses her happiness over the appointment of the first female driver on the Orange Line

Lahore: For the first time, a woman has taken the driver’s seat of the Orange Line Train, as Nida Saleh begins her official duties after receiving six months of technical training.
Nida Saleh has become the first female driver of the Orange Line Train in Lahore. She underwent six months of rigorous technical driving training before officially starting her role as a train operator.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her happiness over the appointment of the first female driver on the Orange Line, saying, “Daughters like Nida Saleh are a source of pride for all of us. This step proves that our daughters are second to none.”
She added that the Punjab government will continue to provide equal opportunities and extended her best wishes to Nida Saleh.
It is worth mentioning that after the introduction of the Metro Bus, Orange Line Train, and electric buses in Lahore, the city is also set to launch a tram service. The tram, consisting of three carriages, will be fully electric.
Once charged for 10 minutes, the electric tram will be capable of running 25 to 27 kilometers and can accommodate up to 250 passengers.
The assembly of the three-carriage tram is currently underway at the Ali Town depot. In its initial phase, the tram will operate as a pilot project.
