U.S policy on Kashmir has not changed, clarifies state department

The U.S State Department has clarified that there is no change in Kashmir policy though Washington still considers both Jammu and Kashmir as a territory disputed between India and Pakistan.

The journalists attending the briefing asked the spokesperson to clarify the US position on disputed region -- Jammu and Kashmir.

During a press conference, a reporter asked State Department spokesperson Ned Price, "Could you comment also on a tweet earlier today that State tweeted out saying that – it refers to India’s Jammu and Kashmir? Now, is this a change in policy? Does State does not recognize this as a disputed territory? Is there some sort of change in position that we need to know? There’s been certain criticism of the phrasing today,".

"I want to be very clear there has been no change in US policy in the region," replied Price.

The tweet being asked about was the one in which the US had welcomed the resumption of internet services in occupied Kashmir.
