Lahore: Wildlife rangers in Khanewal, Lodhran, and Bahawalnagar have conducted separate operations, arresting two poachers involved in quail smuggling and the illegal hunting of parrots, initiating legal proceedings against them.

According to details, under the supervision of Deputy Chief Wildlife Ranger Multan Region Sajjad Hussain, Assistant Chief Wildlife Ranger Sarfraz Hussain in Khanewal, along with his team, caught a man named Muhammad Aslam red-handed in the 90 Gagoo area for illegally hunting quails. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the local police station, and legal action has begun.

In another operation, Assistant Chief Wildlife Ranger Lodhran, Kaleem Sarfraz, along with his team, foiled a smuggling attempt on a passenger bus traveling from Bahawalpur to Peshawar, seizing over a dozen live quails. The 15 live birds were taken into custody and presented before the local court.

As per the court's orders, all the quails were later released back into their natural habitat.

Similarly, Senior Wildlife Ranger Bahawalnagar, Syed Mubashir Hussain, arrested a man named Ghulam Dastagir near Jammu village for illegally hunting wild parrots. A case was registered against him at Mandi Sadiq Ganj Police Station, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
