Lahore: In response to the ongoing flood situation across the country, the Pakistan Army is actively conducting rescue and relief operations in Sialkot, Wazirabad, Okara, and other parts of Punjab to safeguard human lives, property, and livestock. The Army's rescue and relief operations are also continuing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well.

Troops are relocating individuals stranded by floodwaters to safe locations. In addition to evacuation efforts, they are distributing essential relief supplies to affected communities.

In Okara, the Pakistan Army has successfully restored the Rohiwal Bridge, ensuring improved connectivity for relief efforts. Six dedicated rescue teams are working in close coordination with the civil administration along the Sutlej and Ravi rivers to carry out relief operations.

At Head Sulemanki and Attari, Army personnel are using boats to evacuate flood victims swiftly and safely to secure areas.

Due to flooding in Kartarpur, around two hundred to three hundred people are stranded. In coordination with local administration, Army troops are working to evacuate the stranded people.

Inter-Services Public Relations Director-General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chauhdry said that in KP, one engineer brigade, two engineer units, four infantry units, one urban search and rescue team and a medical battalion are active in the area.

“After a great effort, all major roads have been cleared,” he stated. “In addition to this, personnel are engaging in anti-terrorist operations in parallel to this. That effort is going on right now and it will keep going on.

The DG ISPR added that the army is carrying out a “major rescue operation” with boats in Kartarpur Sahib, adding that if the weather clears, army aviation will join in the rescue effort.

“As we speak, five engineer boats, with civil administration, are part of the rescue operation,” Lt Gen Chaudhry said.
