‘Repair work on the damaged track is underway at a rapid pace’

Sialkot (Ehsan Ullah Ishaq): Due to severe flooding in the Sialkot district of Punjab, the railway track has been washed away, suspending train services between Sialkot and major cities like Karachi and Lahore.
According to details, Sialkot—like many other cities in Punjab—is currently facing an intense flood situation. The overflowing streams and heavy rains have not only damaged the city’s infrastructure and crops but have also submerged the railway track in Qila Ahmadabad, which connects Sialkot to Narowal and Lahore. As a result, all train operations on this route have been suspended.
Meanwhile, railway officials have stated that repair work on the damaged track is underway at a rapid pace, and train services are expected to resume in the coming days once the track is fully restored.
It is worth mentioning that just a few days ago, due to the severe flooding in Sialkot and surrounding areas, crops over hundreds of thousands of acres were destroyed, and several villages are still submerged. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing in these areas, but the new spell of monsoon rains has further worsened conditions for flood-affected residents.
