Second major flood wave from India enters Chenab River

(Web Desk): A second major flood wave from the Indian-occupied Jammu region’s Akhnoor area has entered Pakistan’s Chenab River.

There is a high-level flood at Head Marala on the Chenab River, prompting authorities to close the Chenab Bridge to all types of traffic. The administration remains on high alert due to the flood situation at Head Marala.

Pakistani officials stated that the floodwater released by India is moving toward Head Khanki, and in anticipation of further flooding, several villages have been evacuated.

Preparations are underway to intentionally breach the embankment near Head Khanki Bridge if the water flow exceeds 600,000 cusecs.

Authorities have made announcements via mosques to evacuate 450 villages, while severe erosion near Talibwala Patan in Bhalwal has destroyed several acres of agricultural land.

The Ravi River has also affected Multan, where water has started flowing across the railway tracks near Abdul Hakim.

In Multan, a decision will be made to breach the embankment at Head Muhammad Wala to reduce pressure on the Akbar flood protection bund.

Additionally, the Punjab PDMA (Provincial Disaster Management Authority) has forecast rain in the province until September 5, increasing the likelihood of worsening flood conditions.
