Islamabad: The main spillway of the Simly Dam, located 30 kilometers from Islamabad and Rawalpindi, has been opened due to rising water levels.
The water in Simly Dam had reached its maximum capacity level of 2315.45 feet. At 1 PM, one gate of the main spillway was opened up to 2 feet.
The water discharge is expected to be approximately 1,700 cusecs, which is only 4% of the dam’s maximum discharge capacity.
Residents living near the Soan River have been advised to take precautionary measures and follow the instructions issued by the local administration. Warnings have also been issued to the local residents via telephone and sirens.
