Pakistan sends 105 tons of earthquake relief to Afghanistan

Islamabad: Under the directive of the Prime Minister, Pakistan has handed over relief supplies to Afghan authorities for the earthquake victims in Afghanistan.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has sent 105 tons of relief goods, including ration bags, tents, blankets, mats, and medicines for the earthquake-affected people.

The relief supplies were transported to Afghanistan via five 40-foot container trucks through the Torkham border. The goods were dispatched from the NDMA warehouse in Islamabad on September 3rd and handed over to Afghan officials at the Torkham border on September 4th.

The handover ceremony was attended by special guest Federal Minister Aamir Muqam, Pakistan’s Consul General at Jalalabad Consulate Shafqatullah, and Afghanistan’s Consul General at Peshawar Consulate Hafiz Mohibullah Shakir.

Officials from NDMA, representatives of the Afghan government, and officials from the Afghan Embassy in Pakistan also participated in the event. The Afghan Embassy expressed gratitude for the timely delivery of the relief supplies.

It is noteworthy that a devastating earthquake struck Afghanistan on the night of August 31, 2025, resulting in the death of 1,400 people.
