Alaska: A magnitude 8.2 earthquake jolted the Aleutian Chain in Alaska on Thursday, triggering a tsunami alert for the region. Its hypocenter was 29 miles deep.

As per details, moderate shaking probably occurred in Perryville located 66 miles from the epicenter, Chignik (71 miles away), Chignik Lake (74 miles away) and Sandpoint (105 miles away).
The magnitude recalculated from 7.2 to 7.3. While, hypocenter depth recalculated from 35.0 to 3.4 km (from 22 to 2.1 mi).
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area of the epicenter. It might have caused light to moderate damage.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake hit on Wednesday 28 July 2021 at 10:15 pm local time at a very shallow depth of four miles.
Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
Later, the exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Notable quake, preliminary info: M 8.2 - 91 km ESE of Perryville, Alaska https://t.co/DusSgxqIuC
