Tokyo: The World Athletics Championships have started in Tokyo, with Canada and Spain winning one gold medal each in the opening session of the event.
Canada’s Evan Dunphy won first place in the 35-kilometer walk, while Spain’s Maria Perez won the gold medal in the women’s event.
Javelin throw star Arshad Nadeem, who represents Pakistan, will be in action on September 17 and will be in the field to win a medal.
