Bannu: 23 fishermen from Khojari village in Bannu drowned in Omani waters. One fisherman has been rescued while 22 people are still missing.
Member of the National Assembly elected from Bannu, Maulana Naseem Ali Shah, has said that these fishermen had gone from Gwadar to Oman on September 6 to catch fish, but met with an accident.
He stated that the accident on the fishermen’s launch occurred due to a fire in the compressor. One person was rescued by the crew of a nearby ship, while nothing is ascertained about the remaining 22 people.
Meanwhile, the families of the fishermen say that they are trying to contact the Pakistani embassy in Oman, and they have appealed to the governments of Pakistan and Oman to find their loved ones.
