At present, the 20 kg flour bag is being supplied in the market for Rs1,800

(Web Desk): Over 200 warehouses across Punjab have been raided and stockpiled wheat has been seized, according to sources in the Ministry of Food.
The wheat had reportedly been hoarded by profiteers intending to sell it at inflated prices. After the government took control of the stock, 200,000 tons of wheat were ordered to be supplied to flour mills at a rate of Rs3,000 per maund, the sources added.
On the other hand, market sources report a price hike of Rs400 per maund due to reduced wheat supply, with prices climbing back up from Rs3,000 to Rs3,400 per maund.
Sources in the Flour Mills Association said that wheat supply to the mills remains limited, and they are currently distributing 20 kg flour bags in restricted quantities. At present, the 20 kg flour bag is being supplied in the market for Rs1,800.
Meanwhile, chakki (grindstone) flour sellers have maintained their rate at Rs140 per kg, according to sources from the local chakki owners.
