Team management formally lodged complaint with ICC’s umpires and match officials, expressing their reservations over decision

Dubai: The Pakistan team has lodged a complaint with the ICC against the TV umpire over Fakhar Zaman’s controversial dismissal during the match against India.
In the Asia Cup match held yesterday between Pakistan and India, Fakhar Zaman was given a controversial out decision by the TV umpire. Following the match, Pakistan team manager Naveed Akram Cheema informed match referee Andy Pycroft of the team’s concerns.
Sources say that the controversial decision was also highlighted in the post-match report submitted by the Pakistani team captain. Additionally, the team management formally lodged a complaint with the ICC’s umpires and match officials, expressing their reservations over the decision.
According to sources, the TV umpire duties in this crucial match were handled by Sri Lanka’s Ruchira Palliyaguruge, who declared Fakhar Zaman out caught behind in a disputed manner — a decision that affected Pakistan’s position in the match.
Speaking at a press conference, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha stated that, “Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal might have been wrong, but the decision rests with the umpires. We felt the ball had touched the ground, but the final call is the umpire’s.”
It is worth noting that Fakhar Zaman was declared out at 15 runs when Pakistan’s total score was 21. Upon returning to the dressing room, Fakhar and the head coach both expressed dissatisfaction with the decision.
