Case was filed by ECP which accused Dasti of contesting 2008 general elections using a fraudulent BA degree

Multan: A session court in Multan has sentenced Jamshed Ahmad Dasti to seven years in prison in a fake degree case.
The case was filed by the Election Commission, which accused Dasti of contesting the 2008 general elections using a fraudulent BA degree from a religious seminary.
According to the Election Commission, the Sindh Higher Education Commission has no record of Dasti’s degree. The prosecution argued that the accused violated Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution, and should be disqualified for concealing the truth.
The prosecution further stated that Dasti contested elections from NA-178 (Muzaffargarh) and was later disqualified from the National Assembly due to the fake degree.
