He directed that a report on assessment of damage be submitted within next week


New York: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that he will not sit idly until the people in the flood-affected areas are restored.
A meeting on the flood situation was held in New York under the chairmanship of Shehbaz Sharif, in which he directed to accelerate relief and rehabilitation operations for the flood victims and said that Pakistan is facing the effects of climate change.
The Prime Minister directed Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal to conduct relief and rehabilitation operations and the Chairman of NDMA to provide support to the provinces and PDMAs.
The Prime Minister directed that the assessment of the damage in the affected areas be completed, saying that the assessment of the damage to crops and infrastructure should be completed.
He directed the NHA to accelerate measures for the restoration of the affected section of the M5 Motorway, adding that the crack at the Jalalpur Pirwala location of the Motorway should be repaired immediately.
Shehbaz Sharif, while issuing orders to take measures to prevent water-borne diseases, said that special measures should also be taken for the cultivation of crops in flood-affected areas. He directed that a report on the assessment of the damage be submitted within the next week so that the rehabilitation process can be made more effective.
