He is already in charge of T20 and One-Day International (ODI) teams

Web Desk: The West Indies Cricket Board has appointed former captain Darren Sammy as the new head coach of the Test team.
With this appointment, Sammy now becomes the head coach across all three formats for the West Indies. He was already in charge of the T20 and One-Day International (ODI) teams.
According to the board, Sammy will officially take over his Test coaching responsibilities from April 1, 2025, replacing Andre Coley, who is currently serving as the Test team’s coach.
As a player, Sammy led the West Indies to two historic T20 World Cup titles — in 2012 and 2016 — marking some of the nation’s most memorable cricketing triumphs.
On his appointment as Test coach, Sammy said: “It has always been an honour to represent the West Indies. Now, in this new role, I am determined to help shape a fresh direction for our Test team.”
Under Sammy’s leadership, the West Indies have won 15 out of 28 ODIs, lost 12, and drawn one. In 35 T20 matches, the team has recorded 20 victories.
