Doctors confirmed his death today


Karachi: Senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and long-time Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Agha Siraj Durrani, has passed away.
Agha Siraj Durrani had suffered a brain hemorrhage a month ago, due to which he was shifted to the hospital, and then his health deteriorated again a few days ago. However, doctors confirmed his death today.
The Presidency also expressed grief over the news of Agha Siraj Durrani’s death and paid tribute to his political and democratic services.
President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Agha Siraj Durrani. The President paid tribute to his political and public services, noting his role in strengthening democracy and serving the people of Sindh.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Agha Siraj Durrani, saying that Durrani was a sincere, loyal, and principled leader of the PPP. Agha Siraj played an important role in the strength of the Sindh Assembly and the stability of democracy. The services of the deceased will always be remembered.
It is pertinent to note that Agha Siraj was the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly from May 31, 2013 to May 25, 2024. He was also appointed as the Acting Governor of Sindh from March 2022 to October 2022.
Agha Siraj Durrani was associated with the PPP for more than four decades. He was first elected as a member of the Sindh Assembly in 1988. He was a provincial minister three times and the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly twice. He was counted among the trusted associates of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Asif Zardari.
