The national junior team, having accumulated a total of five points in the event, failed to qualify for the final. Australia dominated the early stages, keeping Pakistan under pressure from the outset and taking a 2–0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
However, the Pakistani juniors staged an impressive comeback, scoring three goals in the next two quarters, while Australia managed to add one more. With both sides locked at 3–3 by full time, the match concluded without a decisive result.
Captain Hannan Shahid netted two goals for Pakistan, while Saifullah scored one. The national side will now face Great Britain in the playoff for third place.
Earlier, on October 14, Pakistan’s thrilling encounter with traditional rivals India had also ended in a 3–3 draw.
