Polish side expressed concern over Indian aggression against Pakistan and supported Pakistan’s principled stance on the Kashmir issue:DAR


Islamabad: Pakistan and Poland have agreed to enhance bilateral relations, expand trade and economic cooperation, and work closely on regional and global issues.
The understanding was reached during a joint press conference by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Polish Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski in Islamabad.
Speaking at the occasion, Ishaq Dar said the visit of the Polish Deputy Prime Minister marks an important milestone in Pakistan–Poland relations.
He said Pakistan values its historic ties with Poland and considers it an important partner. Dar also noted Poland’s significant role in the establishment of the Pakistan Air Force.
He added that during delegation-level talks, both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, and counterterrorism. Dar revealed that the trade volume between Pakistan and Poland has reached one billion dollars.
He said Poland’s oil and gas expertise could greatly benefit Pakistan and a leading Polish energy company had already invested nearly half a billion dollars in Pakistan.
FM recalled the historical ties between Pakistan and Poland, dating back to World War II when thousands of Polish refugees found shelter in Karachi and Quetta. He also paid tribute to Polish pilots and engineers, particularly Air Commodore Wladyslaw Turowicz, for their role in establishing the Pakistan Air Force.
The Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister said the Polish side expressed concern over Indian aggression against Pakistan and supported Pakistan’s principled stance on the Kashmir issue. He also appreciated Poland’s position on Kashmir and Palestine, adding that both countries share a common stance on the situation in Gaza.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski thanked Pakistan for its warm hospitality and described his talks with Dar as “constructive and productive”.
He said both countries discussed expanding cooperation in trade, economy, energy, and mineral resources.
Sikorski termed the signing of MoUs between Pakistan and Poland a “positive step” toward enhancing bilateral engagement.
He said Poland supports peace in Gaza in line with the UN Charter and stands for a stable and peaceful South Asia, reaffirming his country’s full support for Pakistan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Earlier, the two deputy prime ministers witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements between Pakistan and Poland, including one between ISSI and the Polish Institute of International Affairs.
