Air pollution has reached alarming levels across Punjab, making breathing increasingly difficult for residents


Lahore once again topped the list of the world’s most polluted cities, recording an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 308.

According to official data, the AQI on Multan Road soared to 603, while Iqbal Town recorded 435. Faisalabad’s air quality also worsened significantly, with the AQI climbing to 582.
Other cities reported similarly hazardous conditions, with Peshawar recording an AQI of 205, Multan 487, and Gujranwala 269.
Medical experts have advised citizens to stay indoors unless necessary and to wear masks when outdoors.
Meanwhile, following directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, anti-smog operations have been intensified across the province.
Special anti-smog squads have been activated in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Gujranwala to curb pollution and enforce environmental regulations.
