Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has written a letter to Islamabad High Court (IHC) for registering contempt of court proceedings against jail authorities after he was repeatedly denied meeting with imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan despite the court orders.
It has been stated in the letter that a three-member IHC bench had asked the Adiala administration to allow a meeting between the CM and Imran Khan, but the jail authorities did not allow the Chief Minister to meet him.
Afridi's letter, submitted through Advocate General Shah Faisal, was sent to the IHC Registrar on October 29, 2025. In the letter, Afridi stated that he wanted to file a contempt case and requested an attested copy of the court's order. He stated that this copy is necessary to formally register the contempt petition against officials for failing to implement the court's directive.
He claims that the obstruction of his meeting with Imran Khan shows a disregard for constitutional and legal principles and that it is necessary to hold accountable those who have defied the court's authority.
Chief Minister Afridi has stated that meeting with Imran Khan is essential for fulfilling his constitutional duties, including finalizing the provincial cabinet. He and other PTI leaders believe that the repeated denial of the meeting, despite a court order, undermines the judiciary and the rule of law.
