Govt, parliament to decide on sending troops to Gaza, Pak army focused on security: ISPR

According to details, during a briefing to journalists, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif stated that Pakistan is ready to protect its borders and its people, and that Pakistan is sovereign in formulating its policies.

In his discussion with the press, the spokesperson for the Pakistan Army stated that 1,667 terrorists were killed during the operation against the Kharijites (extremists). However, political criminals and terrorist groups remain a barrier in stopping crime and smuggling within the country.

While briefing journalists, Lieutenant General Muhammad Ahmed Chaudhry mentioned that 206 Afghan Taliban fighters and 112 Kharijites were killed in clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The spokesperson further remarked that Afghanistan’s conditions do not matter; the primary concern is the elimination of terrorism, and there will never be talks with terrorists. He stated that the solution to Afghanistan-related issues lies with a government that represents the people, and that terrorism must be eradicated.

ISPR also highlighted that Pakistan's response to the Afghan Taliban was immediate and effective, and the results aligned with what Pakistan had intended.

The Pakistan Army spokesperson also mentioned that drug smuggling in Afghanistan is linked to political interference, and large-scale drug trafficking to Pakistan is happening from there.

In response to a question, the spokesperson stated that there will continue to be a state and official relationship with the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Corps Commander Peshawar also met with him in an official capacity. Regarding the possibility of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that it is a hypothetical decision and one that the government must make, not the military.

He also mentioned that in the Khyber District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, there is a nexus between political and criminal drug mafias, and the money from drugs is fueling terrorism in the Khyber Agency. The Tira area has witnessed the highest number of terrorist incidents.

The spokesperson further stated that more than 62,000 operations were carried out in the country in 2025, during which 1,667 terrorists were killed, and 206 security personnel were martyred in terrorist attacks. Additionally, 206 Afghan Taliban and 100 Kharijite terrorists were killed in clashes.

The spokesperson also noted that the Afghanistan-Pakistan border is 2,600 kilometers long, with mountains and rivers along the way. Border posts are established every 25 to 40 kilometers, but they cannot be set up everywhere. Border guards are typically stationed on both sides worldwide, but in this region, Pakistan’s military has to handle the situation alone. He mentioned that Afghan guards fire on Pakistani forces to allow terrorists to cross the border, but Pakistan responds in kind.

In response to another question, the DG ISPR remarked that India is preparing for a false-flag operation in the sea. However, Pakistan is keeping a close watch on the situation, and if India attempts another attack, it will face a much stronger response than before.
