Explosion at illegal fireworks factory in Hyderabad kills four, injures six

Hyderabad: An explosion at an illegal fireworks manufacturing factory in Latifabad No. 10, Hyderabad, was followed by a fire that claimed the lives of four labourers and left six others injured.

The blast at the factory located in the residential area of Latifabad, Unit No. 10, Laghari Goth, shook the entire neighbourhood. The explosion caused a fire to break out in the factory. Upon receiving the report, fire brigade vehicles promptly arrived at the scene and engaged in efforts to extinguish the blaze.

One deceased individual was brought to the burns ward, along with six injured persons suffering from moderate to severe burn injuries. Two of the six injured have suffered burns covering approximately 100% of their bodies.

Medico-legal officer Dr. Muhammad Hussain reported that two unidentified bodies were brought to the mortuary, while Assistant Medical Superintendent Dr. Mujeeb Kalhoro confirmed that another fully burnt body was transferred to the burns ward.

Saud Lund, Assistant Commissioner of Latifabad, stated that he was personally overseeing the rescue operation. He further explained that the fireworks were being manufactured illegally without a licence inside a residential house, adding that the full extent of the situation could only be confirmed after the rescue operation was completed.

Police said that the licensing details of the factory were under investigation. He also stated that the factory owner was not present at the scene.

They confirmed that rescue teams were actively searching the site for any remaining bodies, and that police were also investigating the ownership of the factory.

The spokesperson for Rescue 1122 said that, upon receiving the report, fire and rescue teams, ambulances, and fire brigade trucks were dispatched to the scene. The department is currently engaged in rescue and firefighting operations.
